Incomplete Abortion
The further advanced the pregnancy the larger the risk for incomplete abortion. Most incomplete abortions happen in women whose pregnancies have achieved eight weeks or more from the time of conception, or 10 weeks from the last menstrual period. The fetus has grown to an inch and length, and may be too large to pass through the cervix on its own.

The spasms associated with incomplete abortion can be very excruciating, and harsh. In order to get the tissue to pass through the cervix your body may go into a mini labor to open the os (opening of the cervix, entrance into the uterus) to allow the tissue to pass. When this occurs it can be a very terrifying and painful experience, especially if bleeding is also plentiful.

When pieces of tissue are too large for the uterus to push out it provokes a situation where the uterus is not able to “clamp down” to its usual size. It is significant for the uterus to come again to its natural size following child birth or miscarriage this prevents the uterus from bleeding uncontrollably. Massaging the uterine area can help the uterus contract to natural size. If it does not return to its normal size blood loss can result, bleeding can be hazardously plentiful. And it is possible to bleed even to death.

Blood loss is considered to be soaking one menstrual pad or more per hour. Look for help. Don't waste your time. Hemorrhage is not unusual when it comes to miscarriage past 8 weeks, whether it is a normal miscarriage or herbally induced.

Incomplete abortion can also become apparent in ways other than hemorrhage. Remaining tissue can petrify and lead to uterine infection. The first indication is fever. Uterine infection is very serious. Left uncured it can lead to infertility and even death. So if you come down with a fever following the termination of pregnancy, herbally, natural miscarriage, or by clinical abortion, even if it is a couple of weeks after the termination of pregnancy. The second indication of uterine infection is usually revealed during a pelvic examination at the clinic, the uterus will be quite painful as the infection progresses. Once more, early treatment is very important; this is not something that can be solved at home.

Incomplete abortion can also be protracted bleeding lasting two or more weeks. Bleeding may be moderate to light. This may not be as life threatening as the aforementioned situations, but can cause serious health problems and could require a blood transfusion if bleeding is serious. Uterine infection could still result. Anemia may also become a problem.

What to Do
If the bleeding is plentiful seek emergency medical treatment.
If the pregnancy is over 8 weeks gestation and mild bleeding and signs of pregnancy last for more than 10 days, see your health care provider.
A pregnancy test will still read positive.
In case of gently bleeding incomplete abortion you may possibly be able to cure this with herbs to complete a miscarriage:
   1) have an experienced and skilled attendant with you. Don't attempt this alone.
   2) have herbs which control bleeding on hand,
   3) take 20 drops each of Blue and Black Cohosh Tinctures every hour to empty the uterus. Do not exceed five doses.
